I’ve never been the type to purchase the newest technology. I’ve had the same cell phone for 7 years and it’s still kicking. Granted, there’s not much I’d expect out of an old flip phone, but still. Functional is functional, and if nothing else, my things work. That’s more than I can say for these young kids. I see them lining up for these phones every few months it seems. Last month when I went to visit my granddaughter, she tried explaining to me how it works, it was enough to make my head spin. I prefer to keep things simple.
My first introduction into the new-age tech scene happened about a year ago. Despite my discouragement, the kids went and bought me my first laptop. Now, I’m no dinosaur, I’m quite familiar with how to use computers, I’ve just never had one that didn’t require a desk. At first, I figured I’d poke around before ultimately letting it collect dust as an overpriced paper weight, but there was one thing that caught my attention. I’d heard some good things about this app. It’s called Sprigf-er… the name escapes me, but it’s popular from what I hear. Anyway, it’s a place where people share all types of news and current event information. It’s like having the daily paper at your fingertips. Once I started using it, I was hooked. I’ve learned so many hidden gems about all types of behind-the-scenes crimes and scandals never before reported in the news. I know why though – it’s always the higher ups involved in those types of things, and of course they control all the news outlets. It’s a shame how journalism has lost its integrity these days. I’ve become somewhat of a regular commenter on the app, and I guess you could say I’ve developed a bit of a following. I wasn’t in the market for it, but one particular follower has caught my eye. She’s brilliant, and not too bad looking either. We’ve spent hours in private chats getting to know each other and discussing our different viewpoints. She invited me over to her house tomorrow night for a date. I offered to pick her up and take her to a coffee shop, but she insisted. There’s a collection of autographed original American canon novels that she wants me to see. I’m not familiar with her side of town, but she insists it’s a nice area. Still, I wished she would’ve chosen an earlier time to meet, my night blindness is something serious.
